Obama Scapegoats His Own Voters

Obama Scapegoats His Own Voters

Written by Cenk Uygur I was just going to write about how we should rally the troops to fight for strong progressives (as I did in this video), when Obama dragged me back into the fight between real progressives and the Obama administration. As Al Pacino said in Godfather III, every time I think I’m done with it, he keeps pulling me back in. I don’t want to bore you with the details of why they didn’t fight for real change and how they accepted Washington exactly as it was and made no effort to change its underlying structures and assumptions. We’ve been over it a million times. No, today the interesting part is why they brought up this old fight in the first place. This was not a gaffe. It was not a slip about the “professional left” from someone who had grown frustrated. This was a coordinated strategy. Biden and Obama even used the same talking points. They hit their base for complaining and then both said it was time to “buck up.” That’s not an accident; that’s planned.

Battling the Grays

HERD ABOUT IT? by Ana Grarian A grey wet day to match Ana’s gray wet mood. Is it gray or grey? I think I’ve seen it spelled both ways. As it is simply a steady rain, not a downpour, and still quite warm, the morning walk was not really so bad, and as my arthritic knee is not throbbing, what do I have to complain about? Ana feels a downpour of trouble. Guess I’ll go read some of the internets to get some inspiration. There are a lot of folks out there fighting for the right things. The end of mountain top removal mining….. Around 100 people have been arrested outside the White House while protesting against mountaintop removal mining, including NASA scientist James Hansen. The protesters were arrested Monday after refusing orders from U.S. Park Police to leave the sidewalk outside the White House. They staged a rally at nearby Freedom Plaza earlier in the day. http://i.huffpost.com/gadgets/slideshows/11081/slide_11081_145794_large.jpg Using video and music to enhance their message…. http://www.bing.com/videos/?FORM=MFEVID&publ=D168C6E2-90C6-47F4-AABE-21582D3A32E1&crea=STND_MFEVID_core_HuffPoQ1FY2011_CustomVidLink_1x1&q=mountaintop+removal&docid=169578988604&FORM=HUFPST Answering tough questions from little ones & teaching civic responsibility in the process…. “Pop-pop?”

Inspector General Criticism Doesn’t Faze FBI Raids on Midwestern Anti-war Activists

Written by Coleen Rowley for Huffington Post Former FBI Special Agent The war on dissent, rather than terrorism, continued full steam with FBI SWAT teams breaking down doors at 7 am Friday (Sept 24) morning and raiding the homes of several anti-war leaders and activists in Minneapolis, Chicago and possibly a couple other Midwest cities. Members of the FBI’s “Joint Terrorism Task Force” spent a few hours at each Minneapolis residence, seizing personal photographs and papers, computers and cell phones as well as serving Federal Grand Jury subpoenas on the various activists.

Inspection- The Return of Ruby Ridge and Waco

I understand why they did it, especially Waco. But were the repercussions worth it? Do we really want to go back to those days? Or is the plan to make sure the media never covers when the FBI, ATF, Blackwater’s latest incarnation or any other governmental group assigned to protect the very German-esque “Homeland,” burns up a family because someone said they might know something about terrorism? Or they waterboard to death 8 year old Suzy to try to get Dad to talk about his fictional connections?

The News Pauper: On Freedom of Speech in the Year 2010

September 28, 2010
By

By W.B. Dunne As the News Pauper peruses the demise of sensible discourse since the end of the Fairness Doctrine in 1987, he is forced to ask himself if the Founding Fathers expected anything like Fox News or Rush Limbaugh to exist. It seems to be common belief that the actions of these right-wing ‘Nattering Nabobs’ and those like them will somehow put the Constitution to a test…those archaic intellects can’t be safe in a world with Mass Media Mensas like Rupert Murdoch and Roger Ailes to contend with! It seems to smack of panic-stricken recognition of the threat of irrelevance or defeat that drives the daily shrillness on Fox. Glenn Beck bounces the rhetorical superball down the crazy collider and Rush superconducts the energy generated into the mainstream conversation. In the beginning, Rush carried the crazy relatively alone, but now, a generation later, the crazy is refracted and amplified. Like shards in the gutter from some smash and grab, there are so many knock-offs of Rush we may never be completely free of them. The NP begs the reader to consider the environment in which our founding documents were spawned, and consider the possibility that the intent of the…

Ye Olde Scribe’s Beery Good Solution to Poverty

September 27, 2010
By

YOS has pondered poverty for most of his life. What to do. What to do. All those welfare queens in their limos that crowd our streets picking up their food stamps for doing nothing. You’ve seen them, right? Why one of those welfare queens almost ran over Scribe yesterday on the way to get his welfare check. DAMN YOU ELTON JOHN! Well, that’s what the vanity plate said. Those ^%$#@ pansy Liberals won’t let us carve the poor up and serve them for Thanksgiving. What to do. What to do. Making beer is cheap.
