Republicans, please follow the lead of Rand Paul. Please? You have so many “great” examples to follow!
Indeed I do hope in 2016, if Hillary runs, all the Right’s noise machine is focused on calling Bill Clinton a predator and blaming his wife for his, admittedly problematic, actions, um… how many years ago?
Please get just as rape-y and “slut” calling as you have been too. Remember; wives can never be raped and if a woman is raped they can’t get pregnant: stick to your, oh, so “great,” talking points. Close down a bridge or two. Go after the gays even more. Scream at those who ask you inconvenient questions and threaten to break them in half, throw them off balconies. In fact I recommend that last one during debates with your Democratic opponent.
More! More! More!
And there’s been so much more demanding a sequel election time, like Rush’s “slut”-a-thon, their VP’s very public FU and his shooting another pol in the face then making his victim apologize, oh, and damn near anything that hath flushed forth from Ted Nugent’s, or Ann Coulter’s toilet-like mouths…
Very short list culled from an infinite one that shows a pattern here on the part of Republicans.
If the Dems hit back: listing their obvious bad boy behavior, even just during the Obama administration, the Repubs will be left in historical dust as a minority party with little influence. Let’s go with the extra racist-like comments, protest signs and imagery, like “Put the white back in the White House.” Billboards, radio ads, internet, TV: remind everyone just what racist, chauvinistic bastards they can be.
But let’s go back to Mr. Rand’s comments for a moment…
First, it’s painfully obvious Rand either doesn’t know what predator means, or is ignoring the true definition. By definition a relationship that is consensual, and of age, is not a “predatory” relationship. Especially when the hunter, Ms. Monica, was the one hunting the supposed “predator:” President Clinton.
Ah, then we have the employer canard. When will the right get that a politician is not a CEO? God knows they certainly insult those who govern enough while worshiping some of the biggest con men and women ever: like CEOs who make sure their corporations suck on the government, making employees go get public assistance instead of paying them a living wage.
The two jobs are different. CEOs serve their stockholders, and if they profit more from deceiving the public, or selling marginal goods: at best, well they get bonuses. A president is president for everyone, and those out for mere profit for their backers even at the expense of Americans, or their lives, are traitors.
But, if we must go with this boss/company meme’, which would we rather have? An employer who has a few consensual BJs from an eager employee, or one who starts two unfunded wars for the profit of those who backed him, or his VP’s stock portfolio, then tries the cheap trick of pawning off cost onto his Democratic Party successor?
Frankly, having the choice I’d much rather we had actually found Bush and Condi getting all too personal.
A direct line can be drawn between Republicans today all the way back to Clinton. One must remember they started with Whitewater, went to giving his family the finger by climbing aboard the corpse of Vince Foster hoping to ride that tragedy into impeachment, accusing Socks the Cat of hiding messages, hiring women for what some called the parade of bimbos: all which fell apart under examination except the, oh, so willing, Monica. This is all they have anymore, and it’s a damn shame that the party of Lincoln has turned into a smear and sneer machine, always seeking to bring down any presidency not of their party. Joe McCarthy begat the plumbers, the White House plumbers begat Lee Atwater, who begat Karl Rove and Karl Rove begat Teabaggers and on it goes. Compromise is evil. Dishonesty, lying and framing that amounts to slander are all acceptable to serve the cause. If a nasty tactic or comment backfires: double, triple down.
Ever wonder why when one of their talking heads suggests killing the president, or putting all gays on an island and nuking them, once they try every other excuse (“That’s not what he said!” Yup, it was. “You’re taking it out of context!” Nope, we didn’t.) as a last resort they get all, “You’re going to smear everyone with one…?” Why? Because they know there’s a pattern here, a pattern they support. All about “responsibility” except when to comes to them.
Maybe, just maybe, their tide of mud they so gleefully sling constantly is finally sloshing back on them… if the DLC-types are willing to hold them responsible for their misbehavior. As the late Pete Seeger wrote…. “To everything, turn, turn. turn…” But it will only “change” if we next election time the public is reminded who they have become.
Will Dems do it?
Considering the past? The voice inside my head answers, “Are you kidding?”
