Breeze hindered warmth
Finds me protected
Twixt porch railing
and sun sopped wall.
Lawn cluttered of straggling leaves
Gives way to luxuriant green.
The neighbor’s
Unfettered by shade.
Daffodil and tulip leaves
Guide yet to be blooms
Through last fall’s chaff.
Peonies poke small red noses up.
Rhododendron and azalea
Fatten with expectation.
Now the threat of frosty nights recedes.
Exuberant chipmunk
Bounces hole to tree
Tailed exclamation to
This long awaited resurrection.
