This morning, on The Bill Press Show, they played Rush Limbaugh explaining why he wanted Obama to “fail.” He used… (surprise?!) …a sports analogy where his favorite team was behind and he hoped the other team would “fail.”
Now let’s deconstruct this supposed “logic…”
Generally no one dies in football, baseball: not even boxing or “pro”-wrestling. Certainly no one is asked to sacrifice their lives to gain a homerun or make a goal. Those who do serve don’t have to agree with their managers politically or theologically.
There is no other “team.” If we must use this poor analogy: we are all supposed to be on the same team: America.
Are you an “American,” Rush? Well, if Obama fails, you fail. If you consider yourself a patriotic American, you may disagree with how he manages the team, but you’re still part of the “team:” and you certainly have a right to disagree. But if you’d rather not be part of the “team” you will get richer and more press wishing the “team” will fail.
So this isn’t about what’s good for the country, Rush, this is about you getting more famous and richer at the expense of your “team.”
