Although the following doesn’t quite qualify as either “literate” or “illiterate,” it does qualify as a display of evil and ignorance. We must ask, “Is this the kind of nation we want?” And to the poster over at Republic, I must ask, “So do you think it’s acceptable now that Dems are in power, that Democratic leaning employers respond in kind?” This isn’t the kind of nation I want to live in…
“One of those patriotic, freedom-loving Americans at Free Republic offers us all a glimpse of one Freeper’s vision of America:”
“‘The day after the election I fired an employee who was an open Obama supporter. If more employers took this attitude we wouldnt have a Communist in the Oval Office.'”
“‘Why should anyone here have a problem with making traitors or supporters of traitors pay a price?'” Free Republic
If you wish to avoid FP, here’s the story before the break at FP…
Liberals told to leave
(An instructor for a hunter safety course orders Obama voters to get out of his class.)
“Thirteen-year-old Lane Dunkley just wanted to go hunting with his grandfather.”
“What he got was a lecture on politics.”
“Dunkley and his father, Daniel Reddy, who live in Tulsa, went to Broken Arrow on Tuesday night for a hunter safety course normally required to get an Oklahoma hunting license.”
“The class was a reward of sorts. Dunkley, who wants to go hunting with his grandfather, was told he could take the class only if he brought up his grades.”
“So he did to a B-plus average.”
“But when father and son arrived at the lesson, the volunteer instructor, Kell Wolf, asked if any of the students voted for President Barack Obama.”
“Reddy, a transplanted Californian and former Marine raised his hand.”
“According to Reddy and others in the room, Wolf called Obama ‘the next thing to the Antichrist” and ordered Reddy and Dunkley from the room. When Reddy refused, Wolf said he would not teach ‘liberals’ and would cancel the course if Reddy didn’t leave.”
And here’s the link to the article from Tulsa, where Bartcop lives. Wonder what that excellent blogger, site owner and internet-based radio host thinks of this? Knowing his previous comments regarding OK, I think I can imagine. And it’s not nice.
Ken, there are four states that seem to generate the dumbest, meanest and most religiously-insane white people I’ve ever had the displeasure of meeting: Texas, Mississippi, Alabama, and Oklahoma. (Maybe Alaska, as well, but I haven’t met many Alaskans.) Utah, Georgia and South Carolina also get Dishonorable Mentions here.
I don’t know — it is the water or what? Every smart person I’ve met who happended to be born in any one of those states said basically the same thing: “I got the hell out as soon as I could.” And they added that those who stayed behind did so because they didn’t have the brains or courage to try and succeed anywhere else. (And there’s the racism, too, of course.)
There are good people in all of those states, of course, but they are as rare as a black face at a GOP convention.
I can say little about OK, and my only experience with Texas was Dallas: I was not impressed in any sense. And attitudes I’ve run into coming out of Texas impress me even less. As much as I hated my days spent living barely out of NYC and the arrogance and ignorance of those who felt it the only place where intelligent people lived, I’d rather live there. Less stupidity and less arrogant, believe it or not.
I have been touring through the gulf regions of Alabama and Mississippi for a long time: since about 89/90. Nice people everywhere as you stated. The only reason I sense is that there are a lot of bases down there and I find the military; while there is a need for it, has increasing become more than just indoctrination for the purposes of producing a good soldier. It’s indoctrination to create a Neo-Con soldier, and there’s indications a Christian Neo soldier as well.
Frankly if we don’t take that element out of the military we’re in a lot of trouble in this country.
