April Calendar

Saturday April 4th- HBU Crawfish Boil

Saturday April 11th – In Town Pub Crawl. At noon we will meet at Seville for the pub-crawl and catch the trolley from there.

Saturday April 11th- Craw Fish Boil (Contact Steve Fried for more info and to let him know you want to attend)

Sunday April 19th- Monthly Club meeting at Seville in the courtyard if the weather is nice otherwise we’ll move inside somewhere (BRING BEER)

Sunday April 19th EBH Meeting, 4PM Seville Quarter and Club Homebrew Competition (More information below.)

Friday April 24th- Hot Glass Cold Beer event at the Belmont Art Center. This will be a full meal deal where we supply and serve all the beer. So brew it and bring it to this event. Please let your officers know what you plan to bring so they give it to them to advertise. The Club beer reserve will supply 10-15 gallons of a “yet to be determined beer”. We will be doing an all grain brew demo during the event. These events give us the opportunity to show off our art/craft during an event that showcases other arts/crafts. What a perfect fit for our club. Besides it’s always a lot of fun and a great crowd.

Future Events Information

Club Homebrew Competition – April 19th 2009

Brew it up for a Club Only competition. The winning member’s beer will be brewed as the Club’s featured beer at the Beerfest in September.

Spring Brewbecue – May 16th 2009
Rick and Carol Monroe’s house – this will also be the May Club Meeting.

Notes from Pat..

We’ve had a couple drop outs and have those seats available if you are interested. Take a look and ensure your name is still on the list if you are coming and let me know if you are not coming so I can give your seat to someone else.

The pub crawl still has a couple seats and the invitation is now for any member and their significant other/spouse. Please check the list and verify you have an assigned seat if you are going. If your name is on the list and you are not going let me know that too.

We will meet at Seville at noon on Saturday – April 11th, drink a beer or two and get on the shuttle at 1:00pm for our pub tour. We will be back in the downtown area (near Seville) by 6:00pm and those that want to continue to CRAWL may do so on foot and those that have had enough can CRAWL back to their car at Seville. See more details at the bottom of the page.

Local Pub Crawl- Saturday April 11th 2009 noon til…..

The EBH-club is organizing a local Pub-Crawl. We plan to hire a bus/trolley to cart us around to ensure we don’t get DUIs and to help ensure we all end up at the same place at the same time. The seating is limited and will be offered in the following order of availability….. We’ll likely be stopping at all the hot spots like Seville, McGuire’s, Brews Brothers, ARD’s Cricket Ranch…….Only trolley riders will know the route. We don’t want car loads of of thirsty beer monkeys following us & getting DUIs. Actual individual members only (spouses, significant others will be invited only after all the members have a chance/No kids).

30 person capacity

* Club elected officials get first shot (hey, you elected me!)
* Members who are Committee Chairpersons for the Beer-fest
* Members who brew beer AND bring it to community events like the Hot Glass Cold Beer, Chili Cook-off, Gumbo Cook-off, etc.
* Core members
* General members
The invitations will be sent out one group at a time. The mail out will be in the order above. The first wave will go out to elected officials, the second to committee chairpersons, etc. The invitations will be sent to only those members and in that order. Once one response deadline has past, the next will be sent out. Once the seats are filled there will be no more invitations sent out. My guess is that the seats will be filled by the time we get to number 3 in the list above. I suspect there are folks that are going miss out and can only suggest that in the future you try to move up the list to ensure you get a shot at future outings. In our club, the more you participate the more you get out of the club so “volunteer for anything and BRING BEER to everything”!

EBHC will pay for the trolley and the first 5 pitchers at each stop. Additional drinks will be the responsibility of the member who orders them. More detail will follow as we get things settled.

Mythical poster at The LTS Good for What Ales You Beer Journal. Loves good beer. Hates same old, same old. Muses that Bud and Miller might as well be brewed in urinals. Drinks lagers too, if they are complex and interesting.

I was hoping to get some info on joining or participating in events sponsored by the Escambia Bay Brewers. I work for a microbrewery in Mississippi called Lazy Magnolia Brewing Co. Our beer is now available in the Panhandle and I would love to meet some beer lovers in the area.

Cheers,

Hi Patrick!

My wife and I served your beer a few years ago the day before the beach party. I’m the editor of this page but, to be honest, I probably don’t know much more than you since I live in Nashville. Here are two E-dresses you can use…

brewwiz@cox.net Steve Fried (ex-brewer at McGuires and good friend.)

pat@pensacolaboatworks.com Pat Johnson (I think he just retired as Pres. Since I’m a member but don’t live there, not sure who is now.)

Sorry it took a while to get back to you. This is a new endeavor and we’re fine tuning it. Maybe some time I can do a review of the brewery or a beer profile for you!)

@ Ken Carman:
Ken,
I appreciate what you are doing for the craft beer industry…as a small business we can not thank you enough for your efforts. Thanks for the quick response and the email addresses…I also found the Escambia Bay web site and will follow up.
Please feel free to contact me at your convenience if you have any questions or if I can help in any way.

@ Lazy Magnolia:

Patrick, if you ever want to give us a short blurb here about what it’s like to start a small micro, I’ll get it in for sure. If you’d rather “long,” hey we can do that too.

We’re hoping this will be one stop shopping for clubs and beer fans.

Ken
