Oh, blessed be the silence! The daily 12 year old bully taunt driven drivel has dried up on the social network that could be accurately named just by dropping all but 4 letters; “TWIT.” Now our daily dose of drivel is driven by such horrors as Biden wears a Rolex and the pathetic cry, “Don’t be so divisive!” (Intended sub-context: “Only WE are allowed ‘divisive: even if we’re violent, murderous, insurrectionists.”)
Inspection  Interesting how all those ‘precious’ “back the blue” cries have also dried up. I guess murdering the blue is OK if it’s insurrection.
Interesting after the past 4 years how Biden wearing a Rolex is even considered to be important enough to comment on.
Interesting how, through the Pentagon, Donnie’s recent Defense Secretary appointment blocked the National Guard by placing major restrictions on DC’s Nation Guard; pre-January 6th, doesn’t bother many Republicans one whit. May I suggest a new RNC slogan: “Blue lives matter… not?”
Interesting how so many still backed the cowardly insurrectionist-in Chief after he plainly said he would be with them, but instead quietly slithered back to the White House. Unlike the Benghazi lie about Barack and Hillary watching and laughing, to joyously be glued to his TV and revel in the rampage he inspired.
You know who I just cast Trump as in the Garden of Eden story, right?
Socks
For a very brief moment I heard some stink being started about the Biden’s dogs being part of some outrage. Made no sense and I admit it was so fleeting I have already forgot. But I’m guessing the ghost of Socks the Cat must be chuckling at such all too familiar nonsensical, silly, attention seeking right wing noise machine blather. At least Socks is still reading secret messages sent to him, assumed to be sent by Satan… I guess.
The perpetual, hyperbolic, right wing noise machine has always been kind of of like a constant dumping of dirty kitty litter into the media mainstream. Notice I don’t use Republican Noise Machine like David Brock did in his book. It has gotten so bad… (Think of “bullet to Nancy Pelosi’s head MTG Majorie Taylor Greene.”) …too many on the right don’t qualify as Republicans or traditional Conservatives: not Buckley, not even Barry Goldwater.
Perhaps the best metaphor for the past 4 years would be a petri dish overflowing with toxicity.
So I can’t revel in either the silly or the silence.
Believe it or not the worst thing MAY not be the movement that has turned Turner Diary-types into an even more powerful movement.
We need no movie monsters sent to conquer us, no longer have to have Russian interference. Though this culture started long ago, under the rule of Trump in this huge petri dish our monsters have grown so much bigger, so much more powerful.
Yes, the insurrection right is part of the large, toxic, overflowing petri dish. But may yet prove to be a puny portion of the toxicity compared to COVID where American citizen’s health was tossed into the petri dish. Smashing the ACA wasn’t enough. Due to his inspiration via anti-mask, “it will just go away,” “Democrat hoax,” anti-science attitudes, comments and push back, the very health of America is at risk. COVID found a cozy home in the America run by Trump. So cozy it has mutated many times over. Including a version NO vaccine yet available may be useful against. An unscientific experiment where those least likely to vote Trump were most likely to be exterminated. A virus that at its worst is merciless, vicious, brutal.
Guess, no more than the Jews in Nazi Germany, Black lives really DON’T matter. So much for “all lives.”
Again: at least Hitler’s goons ended the misery they created with gas.
To get beyond we must stop culturing the kind of tolerance, forgiveness and “let’s just move on”-ness we have grown politically since at least Nixon. We decided pardoning and moving on to be best policy. “Best?” If anything it has tossed the presidency itself into that petri dish now overflowing with vile waste, supporting a culture as toxic to freedom as Zyklon B was in the camps.
Have we learned our lesson yet? I hope so. To really learn we must come to terms with whom we have become. The biological monsters we have cultured continue to be unleashed. None of this should be allowed to define us as a nation. To do that we must finally deal with the sickness in all its forms: viral and hate spewing cultists all too willing to commit insurrection and murder.
Either that or the nation will be terraformed by this overflowing petri dish into something as alien, as vile, as the creatures in Independence Day.
Moving on should no longer be an option. Only justice.
