“If you go to White House Recipes from George Bush and take a look at their devil egg recipe … you see the following:

12 large eggs, boiled hard and peeled
1 Tbsp (plus) soft butter
1 Tbsp (plus) mayonnaise
1 Tbsp Dijon mustard **
1/2 tsp Yucatan Sunshine Habanero sauce
Salt to taste

(remainder omitted for brevity)

“Really? Is George Bush elitist too? Please someone let the Daily Show and Huffington know if they aren’t aware of this already : ).”

Does Fox News realize that Grey Poupon is made by Kraft Foods?

Dijon is the capital of the province of Burgundy in France. Among other things, it is famous for its mustard, even though around 90% of all mustard seeds used are imported, mainly from Canada. The term Dijon mustard (moutarde de Dijon) designates a method for the making of mustard, particularly strong if made in that fashion. Most Dijon mustard (brands such as Amora or Maille) is produced industrially, and in fact need not be produced around Dijon. The name has become genericized, meaning it cannot be registered for protected designation of origin status under European Union law. In 2008, Unilever closed the mustard factory in Dijon. It is funny that this is ALL they have to focus on — what Obama put on his hamburger.

Good point, DJ. Besides Obama asked for a spicy mustard, like a Dijon — Gulden’s is a popular spicy brown mustard invented in New York in 1867, and is currently made in Pennsylvania by a US corporation, ConAgra. America’s No. 1 mustard-maker, French’s, also sells a spicy brown variety. Are the right-wing talking pinheads trying to say that spicy mustard isn’t as American as hot dogs and apple pie? I was at a rural 7-11 in ‘real America’ Indiana years ago and they had Grey Poupon on the shelf right next to the yellow mustard. It was even offered as a condiment on the store’s over-cooked wienies in the display case up front. What is going on with these media people on the right — enquiring minds want to know!
