A noted political scientist has cautioned House Republicans that attempts to impeach President Joe Biden will blow up in their faces and will severely damage their electoral prospects in the 2024 general election.

In an interview with the Guardian, Larry Sabato of the University of Virginia Center for Politics gave a blunt assessment of the odds of successfully impeaching the president, stating it has no chance of being successful and will instead turn off voters they need if they hope to reclaim the White House and the Senate next year.

According to the Guardian’s David Smith, “[GOP Rep. Marjorie Taylor] Greene has also introduced impeachment articles against Biden and other members of the cabinet and indicated that she intends to force floor votes on her resolutions. This would doubtless create a spectacle for conservative TV channels and satisfy a desire among the ‘Make America great again’ (Maga) base to avenge Trump after years of hearings in which he was the accused.”
