I’m sure you have run into some question like…

“OK, I get it. You hate Trump. But why vote for Biden?”

…or some variant. It’s a question framed as if it’s logical, but it’s not. It makes so many assumptions. And really shouldn’t encourage anyone to vote for someone else, or not vote. Therefore it’s a stupid question, if you examine it closely. And a tactic to either get you to vote for someone else, or not vote at all.
Vote for whom you’d RATHER have. And, no matter who you vote for, VOTE.
If you want to vote for ANYONE because of how much you hate the other that is your right. And it makes sense if you think one is beyond offensive, endangers the nation, and you think is seeking to turn the nation into a dictatorship filled with compliant, obedient, loyal to only him souls serving his every demand. No matter how hideous that demand may be.
REAL logic? We live in a two party system. If anyone wishes to vote for a candidate because they hate someone it should be the voter’s choice. PERIOD. If you want to vote third party, do it. But remember: third party candidates have damn near a worse chance of winning than attempting to beat an angry skunk and coming away spelling like lilacs. And more than not you get who and what you really, really, REALLY don’t want.
Ergo you since you really only have two logical choices for who might win, hating one more is a perfectly good reason to vote for the other. Want to send a message? Good luck. “Sending a message” has failed over, and over again. Parties, at best, do autopsies then they go right back to what they were doing for decades.
Some voters attempted to send a message after Bernie didn’t become the candidate. Yup, a lot changed after that. Not.
Let’s me show how absurd the initial “OK, I get it…” question is…

“I get it. You hate Hitler/Stalin/Jeffery Dahmer. But why…”

But, OK, let’s go ahead and answer the initial question. So, other than hating Trump, why vote for Biden?
1. Because he believes in due process. I know what some of you are claiming: he’s some dementia afflicted, befuddled, clueless, yet brilliant super political ninja with severe dementia able to manipulate state prosecutions. (See how stupid that reasoning is?) But obviously that’s stupid: even when it comes to FEDERAL prosecution not even Garland went after Trump. They hired an investigator. He hired a team of investigators. Then they had grand juries with citizen jurists. Then trials with juries. Trials where Trump’s lawyers were free to challenge evidence, testimonies… Free to drag out court cases. Even accept a judge who seemed extremely compromised. This is how it’s supposed to work. NOT just “lock her up.” That last one really IS “weaponizing the justice system.”
2. Court proceedings where a defendant is NOT free put a target on staff, witnesses, interrupt proceedings. Easy test for this: would Trump even suggest Hunter Biden should be allowed to behave like he did in court?
3. Biden allowed the prosecution of his own son: did not step in. Allowed the canceling of a plea deal. Due process was allowed to go forth. No daily smearing of witnesses, judges…
4: COVID. Trump may have started the ball running on shots, but Biden got shots in arms instead of “it will end by June/summer,” “No worse than a cold…” And the initial shots were handled competently, efficiently.
5. He doesn’t gather his followers together to march on any official function and to “fight like hell.”
6. Pulling out of Afghanistan was politically BRAVE, as messy as it was. (Remember Nam: far messier. This was no anomaly.) After TRUMP set up the leave Afghanistan scenario Biden had them pulled out. Weapons left behind? Sure. People died? Hell, yes. How many years were we there? Either way there were going to be tragic. Once hell was raised there was not mugging for the camera and claiming “I did everything right and they still…” crap.
7. When he fails HE ADMITS IT and gets back up. Like the debate, if one dare call it that. That’s being a grown up. I like that we have a grown up president.
I have more, if you want.
Is he perfect? Hell, no. In my lifetime I have NEVER known a perfect president. If you consider someone perfect, hey, you are probably in a cult. NO ONE IS PERFECT.
Again: it’s a two party system, third parties only good for getting who you don’t want in office.
As I just typed: “I have more, if you want.” There are plenty of reasons to vote Biden.
As well as plenty of reasons not to vote Trump.
