Recently I wrote a column called The Demand for WMD: “the demand for White Male Dominance.” “White Male Superiority” works too.
    The claim is Biden, Obama, government departments, businesses hired only to satisfy some racial mindset. Of course once we go to examples often the whole concept falls apart and points right back at Trump and MAGA want/are doing.
    One of the best examples was the claim Kamala Harris was an example of DEI. Here is her resume: US Senator and AG for one of the biggest, most popular states, district attorney too, and of course VP.
    ”DEI” hire? Really?
    Compare that to Trump’s appointments like Hegseth and Kennedy there’s no comparison. Most of them there’s little to no meritocracy elements to them, unless one counts being on a major network as a talking head in many of the cases.
    DEI has become the talking point for anything the right can use to accuse the left of using DEI for: no proof needed. Like the crash into the Potomac. Really? Have you watched the footage? The military helicopter was aimed like a missile at the plane filled with a lot of talented people, young men and women.
    I make no accusation here except one: the administration has been busy gutting the FAA, weakening it. SURPRISE!!! Bad things happen. I’d be curious how meritless WMS-ers will replace whomever they replace.
    That supposition aside how did this happen?
    I think it likely they were on training maneuvers and it got out of hand. But if we are going to assign blame the white folks in the chopper certainly share a lot of the blame. If I were to auto toss out some politically convenient charge I’d say it was caused by WMD, or WMS if you wish.
    One needs to note several incidents have happened since. Nothing to do with their recent actions regarding the FAA. NOTHING AT ALL… all sarcasm intended doth apply to the previous statement.
    Trump is perhaps the most active, biggest, promoter of hiring people of non-merit nature. Look at his appointments.
    A discussion with a right leaning cousin brought an interesting observation. When I challenged his assertion in today’s political climate that Democrats had been appointed and running DEI candidates he didn’t go national. As a trucker he brought up a situation where a black driver dropped his load where he shouldn’t have and he didn’t get punished for it, cited for it.
    Let’s chuck the question as to whether he actually KNOWS that driver wasn’t and go to also obvious observation: no one is saying sometimes blacks don’t get a break because they’re black, anymore than whites do sometimes. Wonder if he ever makes notes of those times> Now, IMO, more whites get favoritism than blacks, but how does one quantify that? Well, maybe all the white folks in jobs? I worked for WSM in programming for about 5 years. They got in trouble for having an all white staff. The people they hired in response DID qualify, or earned merit if you wish.
    But the over all insistence that DEI is to blame for all our ills is incredibly stupid, inane, racism-based, and a politically convenient lie.
    Look at the people being appointed, some not even appointed just given their job like Musk. White, no experience, and anything but merit appointments.
    This is classic case of “look over here instead” gas lighting.
    And they don’t care.
