I’m surprised more portside bloggers aren’t pointing out that what Glenn and the Fox News Gang do is exactly what Goebbels did in the ’30s: cook up some Big Lie no matter how illogical or ridiculous — such as Obama is a fascist — then keep repeating it over and over. It works because most people can’t imagine anyone would make up something that outrageous unless it were true and, of course, the repetition of a bumper-sticker line lodges in the soft parts of the brain like a McDonald’s ad theme. Even those who resist it remember it. (Aren’t you lovin’ ‘it’?)
The only all-beef patty in this sesame seed bun of utter nonsense is that the numbers of people willing to admit they are Republicans has dropped precipitously since 2000, so maybe there’s hope yet he said as the stern of the Titanic raised into the air.

BTW, I heard Randi Rhodes mention last week on her radio show that outside of Rupert Murdoch, the single largest stockholder in Fox is the Prince of Saudi Arabia. The royal family is against Global Warming and for the Iraq War, so Fox follows suit? If people only knew the money(foreign and domestic) behind these “patriotic plain talkers.” They are suckers. They should call their movement “suckerism.”

It is as futile to argue with another’s faith as it is to try and convince a horsefly to be a horse and, these days, the GOP suckers — AKA the simpleminded ‘True Believers’ as opposed to the ugly stuff floating on the top of the punch bowl making millions of dollars from cynically catering to their prejudices and fears — are engaged in a massive act of faith to keep denying reality and trusting the Right-Wing Noise Producers as the country falls apart before their bewildered eyes.

The thing that irks me, and I’ve seen it happen, is that most of these boobs, when injured in a traffic accident, will be the first to complain when the taxpayer-financed ambulance doesn’t get there right away to treat them. They will also push forward to get to the head of the line for the free government cheese. They just don’t want to pay for any of it. They are selfish as well as hypocritical, dumb, racist and cowardly, and the GOP and Fox News counts on that.
Sadly, millions of people do buy this crapola. That’s the plan. You throw enough crap against the wall, some of it’s gonna stick.
